This workshop will provide guidance and examples to school psychometrists/psychologists regarding the use of the Patterns of Strengths and Weaknesses (PSW) model for determining special education eligibility in Alabama for students suspected of having a learning disability.


Workshop Fee: $15 (includes lunch)


IMPORTANT: Participants MUST register in advance.  There will be NO onsite registration due to the facility capacity relative to fire codes. The registration deadline is Monday, January 30, 2017.

8:00 - 9:30 Limestone County presents their PSW Worksheet

 

9:30 - 9:45 BREAK

 

9:45 - 11:45 Small Group Break Out (work on personalizing the PSW Worksheet for your district)

                       

11:45 - 1:00 LUNCH (provided)

 

1:00 - 3:00  Review examples & ALSDE feedback relative to  entering info into SETS and Q & A

 

Note to Participants:

Examples of decisions made using the PSW model are needed. Please share a worksheet or template (either one you have used or one you would like to consider). IMPORTANT: You must black out the student's name and submit the worksheet via email to abcisco@dekalbk12.org.

 

What to bring to the workshop: Bring a list of related assessment tools currently available in your district - Aspire, STAR Reading, DIBELS, AimsWeb, classroom tests, Wonder's Unit Test, criterion-referenced, norm-referenced, etc.
